WHAT a year this has been already. Sport aside it’s been a real emotional rollercoaster and the outbreak of COVID-19 has certainly sent shockwaves through everyone.

I’m not going to use this post to voice my concerns/opinions; the bottom line is we should all be following the advice and recommendations of medical professionals. I do hope our country (Australia) acts now but, again, that’s another conversation topic altogether.

I’m writing this to announce that – presuming the NRL and AFL are forced into suspension this week – we will be suspending all monthly membership renewals going forward until we have a service worth offering again.

It’s a strange time for all sport lovers and one that certainly presents a unique challenge for myself and others involved with me.

These next few weeks, and possibly months, are going to be challenging for a lot of people. Incomes are going to be impacted and I hope that we can all find steady ground one way or another.

To members who have purchased 3-month, 6-month or 12-month packages, I will ensure the time is added to accomodate the lack of sporting action right now.

To those on monthly renewals, again, I will put a hold on them until we resume business as usual.

As it stands I’m going to prepare for the weekend as if the NRL and AFL are on. I will post how it will work in due time but from what I’m hearing the government is going to finally enforce some sort of mandatory shutdown.

I will still look to keep our Twitter page as active and social as possible – if we’re going to be quarantined we may as well have some fun with it! Maybe some movie/book/music recommendations; everyone can learn a bit about each other and possibly find themselves some hidden gems in amongst all the chaos and confusion.

If there’s one thing I will say about the situation in the world it’s this; as someone who studied journalism and worked in the field for a few years, please be wary of what you read. If you want to know more go to sites like WHO that will give you what you need to know or follow trusted medical professionals. At the end of the day the news is driven by sales/clicks and nothing drives a bigger audience than fear.

I am NOT saying that this isn’t a big deal – IT IS! I’m simply saying this is a time for everyone to stay calm, help each other and be sensible.

If anyone has any questions about memberships please feel free to send me a DM on Twitter. In the mean time, stay safe and stay happy!

I’ll post our first entertainment thread tonight and see what suggestions we can give each other.

Appreciate all your support as always,
Josh.

P.s. I’m using this photo because I think now, more than ever, is when we should all be looking at those who make our lives imperfectly beautiful.
